Qualifying Activities Resources
To be eligible for Georgia Pathways to Coverage™ (Pathways), you must perform one or more qualifying activities for 80 hours each month. Qualifying activities include:
- Full-time or part-time employment
- Self-employment
- On-the-job training
- Job readiness assistance programs
- A stay in a skilled nursing facility/hospital
- Community service
- Relative caregiving, or providing caregiving to a relative, through Structured Family Caregiving within Elderly Disabled Waiver Program (EDWP), Community Care Service Program (CCSP), or Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment (SOURCE)
- Vocational education training
- Enrollment in the Vocational Rehabilitation program of the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA)
- Higher education through enrollment in public and private universities and technical colleges
- Current college course-load credit hours will be granted qualifying activity hours as follows:
- At least 11.5 credit hours will count as 80 hours per month.
- Between 5.50 and 11.49 credit hours will count as 40 hours per month.
- Between 0.01 and 5.49 credit hours will count as 20 hours per month.
- Current college course-load credit hours will be granted qualifying activity hours as follows:
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Works Program
- Parent and legal guardian of a child under the age of six (6)

If you are not eligible for Pathways because you do not meet the qualifying activities requirement, there are many resources that may help you qualify.
You can meet this requirement by participating in full-time or part-time employment. Organizations that can help include:
- Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL), or your local GDOL Career Center
- WorkSource Georgia
- Social Security Administration (SSA) Ticket to Work program for Social Security (SS) Disability beneficiaries, or 1-866-968-7842
You can meet this requirement by participating in on-the-job training with your full-time or part-time employer.
You can meet this requirement by participating in job readiness assistance programs. Organizations that can help include:
You can meet this requirement by participating in community service with a local community organization or non-profit. Organizations that can help include:
- United Ways of Georgia
- Dial 2-1-1 community service line for volunteer opportunity referrals
- For communities that do not have a 2-1-1 service, call your local United Way for volunteer opportunity referrals
- Georgia Department of Community Affairs
- Georgia Department of Human Services
- Local community organizations or non-profits (e.g., food banks, homeless shelters, community centers, religious organizations, environmental agencies)

You can meet this requirement through active enrollment in the SNAP Works Program, also known as the SNAP Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWD) program.
You can meet this requirement if you are the parent and legal guardian of a child under the age of six, if the child is also enrolled in Medicaid or on the Medicaid application with you.
You can perform any combination of qualifying activities to reach 80 hours of qualifying activities each month. For example, you can meet the 80 hour requirement in a month by working 60 hours and doing 20 hours of community service.
